It’s not really hard to guess why I am creating a series on what is happening right now in America. The slow demise of society is occurring right before our eyes. Patriarchy has a stronghold and is clawing not to let go. The fear of what is happening and the repercussions of what it means for our children and their future is debilitating. My grandma always taught me to examine why things happen, we may not see it at the moment but one event tragic as it might be will lead to one that will change the course of your life for the better. It is important for us to keep this in mind and fight to make our lives better. We have to put out into the universe what we want manifested and put all of our energy into making it happen. It is hard to see that now, as a woman, it is so very hard to have no control over yourself but if we are content in that thought then we are part of the problem. Let’s teach our daughter’s to be strong, to fight, to not stay silent…To Resist. Let’s teach our son’s to be humble, loving, caring, compassionate and Most importantly…To Respect Women! I am just one person but together with many who think as I do can change the world.

I created this Series in order to document what is happening but in my own way. The way that it plays out in my mind on a daily basis. Everyday is a new anxiety a new issue that I worry about because it will impact my future and that of my children. So, for this first piece, “Daily Mourning,” I incorporated what was troubling me at that moment. Guns…gun control, violence, distress and death. How as a society we have become immune to mass shootings, a country that holds their guns softly within their arms while burying their kids at alarming rates and those that find nothing wrong with it. There will always be something wrong with this country that will have us stressed but our time must come at some point and to me that is In November. We cannot keep losing battles, the ones we have lost have been because we truly had no control over but we have control over Voting. We Must Vote!!!!
